A one-stop source about accessory dwelling units, multigenerational homes, laneway houses, ADUs, granny flats, in-law units…
*Update as of 6/3/2015. Read a follow up post about the tour here: https://accessorydwellings.org/2015/06/02/follow-up-to-the-spring-2015-adu-tour/*
The City wide ADU tour is almost here. It takes place on May 29th-31st. As of May 24th, 2/3rds of the tickets are spoken for, so if you would like to attend, we recommend registering ASAP. If it sells out early, we will not sell any tickets during the event. We will update this post once the tour is sold out as well as on the tour page.
The purpose of this tour is educate and inspire aspiring ADU owners. The tour has a mobile web map app and robust project profiles detailing many aspects of each of the 25 ADUs that are featured in the tour. Supplementing the project profiles we’ve written, we’d recommend reading this detailed, 10-part Oregonian series featuring all of the ADUs on the tour, broken down by ADU type:
On Friday evening, May 29th, I’ll be offering a 3-hour ADU Workshop called “Getting Started with Permitting, Financing, and Design”.
On Saturday, there will be 12 ADUs on the tour throughout NE Portland and on Sunday, there will be 13 ADUs in SE Portland. Some of the ADUs featured in the tour are written about here on AccessoryDwellings.org in great detail.
Caravan- The Tiny House Hotel, the first tiny house hotel in the United States, will open the doors to its six tiny houses on wheels to ADU tour attendees for the entire weekend. There will also be another tiny house on wheels at one of the ADUs on the SE/Sunday tour. ‘Tiny houses on wheels’ are not the same thing as ADUs, but they’re good friends, as we have said on this blog.
On Saturday afternoon, May 30th, there will be a party at Caravan, featuring live music from Alexa Wiley and the Wilderness.
We’re super excited for the weekend, and if you’re considering developing an ADU, we hope you’re able to attend.
