Building An ADU- a new website for those seeking to build ADUs

I’m excited to share a new ADU website with AccessoryDwellings.org readers.

BuildinganADU.com is a website geared to homeowners who want to build an ADU on their property, featuring posts and tips that delve into great detail on how much ADUs cost to build using actual costs from recent projects,

defining what an ADU is by showing the variety of structural forms,

providing free guides for small space design best practices and much more.

For ADU industry professionals and aficianados, the blog includes notable national insights such as the remarkable recent spike in ADU development in Los Angeles, California in the first quarter of 2017.

The site features a number of ADUs photos that others are welcome to use, broken up by category.

My ADU learning process started in 2011 when documenting the development of my first ADU, which my wife and I live in to this day. Six years later, I’ve got the ADU development bug again, and have started the development of a basement conversion ADU on an investment property in my neighborhood.

This new blog on BuildinganADU.com looks at ADU development through the lens of an amateur real estate developer/investor. It chronicles the development process for this day-lit, fully-accessible, basement conversion ADU. It walks through the steps of working with the City for the ADU permit, my financial decisions, the costs of development, and the return on investment.

The ADU Odyssey blog is primarily a video blog that delves into the development process of a daylit-basement attached-garage conversion ADU

Lastly, BuildinganADU.com contains a new web course about building an ADU, a web version of my ADU class for homeowners, except this course is intended for homeowners everywhere, not just in Portland. For those who are interested, we’re running an awesome July special that includes lifetime access to the course, an all-inclusive pass to the upcoming ADU Tour, a real-time Q+A webinar online, and a digital copy of my ADU book which is scheduled to be completed in late 2017. The July special provides over $400 of applicable, useful, and unique ADU material and content you won’t find anywhere else for $199. Use promo code: JULYSPECIAL during the month of July for this offer.
